i am on my journey of discovery, and have lots of ideas going through my head abou the bible.
i am just wondering what different people on this board have come to the conclusion or what stage of thinking are they at about what role the bible plays in our lives.. my random floating thoughts and ideas:.
1) is inspired and gods message to us, but nt cancels all "laws" and we are just to follow jesus and god and be true christians not part of any religion.. 2) bible is book of stories that people way-back-when wrote in order to pass down verbalized morals and illustrations in ot.

I'm probably one of a minority here thay have embraced the Bible as Jewish historical fact, and the gospels are a true account of Jesus. I do believe that Jesus said in John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. I believe it is true.
The Watchtower misrepresented the Bible and most everything in it.

I find Talk Origens to be very myopic.
FD I may be blond and an apostate but I can read and reason. There is no scientific evidence for the mutation of one species to mutate into another even with billions of years to work at it. I have a genetic disease that caused me to begin researching DNA. It is a code, written in stone. And of it were not we would not be here. The universe would be one bizaar unstable place without DNA codes. Where did they come from? Oh an accidental big bang from nothingness. Then chemicals came from more nothingness. They mingled. Then all known scientific rules were broken and DNA codes mysteriously appeared out of nowhere....

how would the elders react if a jw began using habitually expressions like "jesus christ our lord" or "our church" instead of "our organisation" or "may jesus help you/be with you" expressions that are scriptural and apostolic but which the fds does not really like?
Something dodgy is going on. Why do they keep that unnatural distance from the Christ?

i'm trying to place the scriptural basis and wt article that explains that jehovah doesn't just forgive transgressions, minor and major, but he actually 'wipes clean' the slate and forgets they ever happened which is the real essence or forgiveness.
(provided the person is repentant of course) i know we studied this in the past few months but can't find it.. i'm trying to contrast this with wt policy of recording transgressions and keeping records, allegedly written and most certainly mental, of minor offenses well past the moment of claiming that the offendor is 'forgiven.
the practice is contrary to what the wt has claimed in print that we should strive for.. i'd like to ask this question at my next 'bible study'

Just another colecanth story.
There still is no science to back up the evolution of DNA to progress towards a more complex species. The Second LAW of Thermodynamics, Entropy, erases any chance for the theory of evolution to ever be proven. All complex matter is on a downward spiral. These computers will some day be small broken pieces, then smaller and smaller until some day it will be nothing more than dust. When DNA mutates the greater percentage of times the mutation is detrimental to the organism. When it is a good thing it will never change the DNA code, but can rearrange the genes.
I have asked a couple biochemists, in all sincerety, to be shown the theory has some kind of scientific validity. They come up with outrageous so called closed environment. In other words by dinking around with nature, they can manipulate organisms. and I ask...and this meeeaaans.....?

i've got to say, that last chapter was amazing and so inspiring.
i haven't felt that good after reading a book in a long time.
I remember being told that 1975 never happened by my so called "friend" the elders wife in the late 80's. I thought, ok, it never happened. I never read; "Then is Finished the Mystery of God". I never seen the world timeline in that book end in 1975. I never heard the talks at Dodgers Stadium state why we looked forward to 1975. I never read the Theocratic Ministry School pamphlet telling me how awesome it was that people were dropping out of school and selling their homes. I never dropped out of school before 1975. All my friends did not drop out of school. My best friends did not sell their home and take off to Guatamala to spead the good news before Armageddon hit. I never heard the talks about how we must use our time before 1975 wisely. I never heard it at the conventions. And, the elders never came to my house to counsel my mom for telling a "sister" she thought it would be nice to marry a nice JW man so close to Armageddon. None of it eveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaappened.....oh and Bonnie BeXXXXX the elders wife did not put off having a child until she was way past her prime because she did not want the baby to suffer during Armageddon. Oh yeah and the congo did not look down on my sister for having children so close to 1975. Nope, it never happened. Oh but wait, they made some kind of weak apology for it all didn't they after they blamed us?
The GB were the voice of Jehovah? But they made mistakes?
The God I now worship, the God of the Bible, does not jerk anyone around.
Ray tells it like it happened, all the gory details. All the GB have done is lie, twist, and follow. They have no spine. Edited to remove Bonnies last name. What was I thinking. Even though she made the cover of the Awake years later when she gave up on Armageddon and got pregnant and almost died. Oh yeah she was MARTYRED for it because she was too old and almost died.

I could never relate to someone who read the book and stayed faithful to the mother borg. The way the GB treated people are not the leaders I would ever follow. It is clear that the GB are followers of followers. Russel followed the Millerites, Rutherford followed Russel and then some. There never was any truth involved, just a group of macho special so called annointed men holding on to a cult's traditions.
I'm glad Ray had the bravery to tell it like it is. He contributed, paid his dues. Whether or not he got involved with any other x JW groups is his business. I'm sure he battled his own demons. Last I heard he is in his 90s, sharp as tacks, and still taking calls. Thank you Ray.
